I have been hankering to write an entry like this for a really long time but time never really allowed me to do so.
Luckily, time has been lenient on me today, and fansubbers have been releasing anime at a rather slow place this couple of weeks.
Kaiji is the only anime that I am catching avidly now, with only about 2~3 anime that is idling on my waiting list.
Truth is, my overwhelming interest of anime have been ebbing recently. I don't really know whether its a good or bad thing actually, you decide.
Meh, enough of blabbering and let’s get into the main topic.
The singing of national anthem is one issue that had caught attention for a really long time and recently it clashed on me again.
All thanks to my teachers that stole my precious recess away from me due to the hushed singing of the NA (National Antheme).
Since that incidence, writing an editorial became complusory in my "to do list" for me to clear all the agony in my mind.
Shamefully or not, we all know that most students do not take the singing of NA/ pledge taking seriously.
In the recent years, the intensity of it has dropped from hardly audible to zero. And on lucky days, you might get to hear murmurings, might.
Well, I don't know exactly why, but assuming from why I have seen or heard from majority of the students, the answer is simply that "They don't give a fucking damm."
The second reason for this occurrence is probably that some idiot think that its an "uncool" thing to do so.
They they wanna act like the nigga that they see on MTV channel that does all the "cool" thing, and singing of the national anthem is what they never see niggas doing.
If you just happen to fall within this category, slap yourself.
Of course, I believe that the minority might consist political individuals that don't sing due to the excessive dislike for the country. If there is, it’s only a handful.
Personally, I would put myself in between group 1 and 3. Not the idiots group. But I think I have a good blend of personality from group 1 and 3.
I do not consider myself as an patriotic citizen and 7.25am in the morning all I can think of its either my bed or my porn downloads. End.
It amazes me whenever teachers ask/force/plead students to sing their national anthem.
I don't know if I am stupid or what, but I just can't see what good it can exactly do.
First and foremost, the national anthem is supposed to be sang with gusto and pride. (as quoted from my ex-principal)
And in that context, when teachers ask students to sing their NA, it becomes nothing but a huge irony.
What’s more amazing is that teachers can actually be satisfied with students sing their national loudly in obvious jest.
Well after comprehending for about 2seconds, it seems that everything just boils down to school image (yet again) instead of having proper National Education.
Heh, yet another socratice irony within the sg education system.
SINGAPORE BOLEH! LASKA BOLEH! MERLION BOLEH! PAP BOLEH!
PS: A rather poor post IMO.
PSS: OMFG I ARE LOSER, ITS VALENTINE AND I AM WRITING LONG POINTLESS EDITORIALS!
