Kaiji can be better. Minami-Ke is pure Entertainment.
Its the episode 6 of Kaiji already. Even so, the series is pretty much still stucked in the first arc of the story.
I suspect that another 2~3 episodes will be needed for the first arc to end, but hopefully my suspicion will turns out to be negative.
The overall plot and development of the entire show is still going well. The major thing thats making this series such a great one is the deep and intellectual plot.
And at here, I must definitely credit Nobuyuki Fukumoto for coming up with such a great gambling series. First its Akagi and now this.
After producing two series of such high caliber, I now think his ability to write Psychological Thriller is comparable to that of Tsugumi Ohba.
Still, I must point out something about Kaiji that can be improved. It’s the overall pace of the story.
Personally, I thought that things could have been a little faster. And even after the studio speed up the pace of the show.
IMO, it’s still entirely possible for the show to achieve the thrilling effect and the entire experience the studio wanted to present.
One ideal example will be Episode 5. They took one whole damm episode just to play a game of sissors,paper,stone.
The part where kaiji tries to convince his team mate to play against Kitami team is such a drag.
I am sure I can easily drive a girl to orgasm 50times faster then the pace of the story.

I do see the overall experience that MADHOUSE wanted to present to its viewer. But IMO the could have presented it in a less tedious manner.
It seems that madhouse is making the same mistake that they made with Akagi, where the last 9 episodes revolved around an impotent mad old guy.
And after all the long winded storytelling, the end of the show remains as a cliff hanger.
And this particular cliff hanger made felt much worst then the one in Code Geass.
Both shows could have been better. The overall illustration of tactics could have been more concise.
We audience are not idiots. Washizu is one for ruining the show.
Blah blah blah.
Now for Minami-Ke. This series seriously impresses me. It’s by far the best slice of life anime made ever.
When I was first introduced to this series, I never expect the everyday story of 3 sisters to be that interesting.
Episodes just get better week after week. Same goes to my love for Chiaki.

This series is just pure entertainment. The entertainment level of this show might even be as high as Gurren Lagann.
And after watching the 6th episode. I think its official, Minami-ke have surpassed kaiji.
Its now sitting steadily on my best anime of the season list.
Will be expecting moar and better episodes in the upcoming weeks. Moar Ninomiya-kun and sensei jokes too. lulz.

If you went WTF as genshiken2 kicked out clannad from my list and after remembering how badly I condemned it some post back.
This is why ... After watching episode 2,3,4 of Genshiken 2. I am starting to feel that its even better then Genshiken S1.
I am pretty lucky to give episode 2 and 3 another shot before deciding to drop the series. If not, I will be missing another great series of the season.
Oh btw I did not manage to complete episode 5 as I couldn’t stand all the bloody yaoi scenes, if not I got to wash my damm eyes with dettol.
