It has been a good 5months since i started to collect anime figurines. Till date, i have a total of 9 figus.

In sequence, They are

1st: Max Factory - Haruhi Suzumiya - $50
2nd: Alter - Black Dress Saber - $85 (May sell)
3rd: Kotobukiya - Seifuku Shana - $76
4th: Max Factory - Mikuru - $75
5th: Kotobukiya - IIya - $38 (May sell)
6th: Alter - Shinku - $80
7th: Toyworks - Ceremonial Shana - $78
8th: Max Factory - Kureha - $95
9th: Wave - Suiseseki - $80

My first figu happened to be one of the most popular figurine in the world, it was Max Factory Haruhi. More then 40k of these have been sold around the world.
After bringing her home and unwrapping her box. I literally got shocked at how elaborated she can get. Every detail and every paint job was almost perfect.
Its easily much much better than those that are displayed out of the comics connections glass cabinet.
And Ironically, in the past, I already thought that those being displayed at CC are pretty decent already.
Never to really expect that there are figurines of much greater details then those.
So after looking at the difference in quality. I thought to myself that $50 is pretty worth it.
Still oblivious to the fact that this $50 haruhi is actually one of the cheapest scaled figu around alredy.
In addition, ts also a good thing that my first figurine turned out to be made by max factory. One of the most reputable manufacturers around.
This really opened the gates of my buying spree.

Slowly, then i started to learn that not all figurines are of such quality. Normally those that are able to produce figus of such details are Max Factory, GSC and Alter.
Some other decent ones are Kotobukiya, Toy works and maybe Wave. But this 3 companies arent very consistent in their work. I normally check before buying figurines from these companies.
So after knowing more about different companies and the quality of figurine they make.
I have been strictly restricting myself to only buy figurines produced by these 6companies.
Which is a good thing as this policy pretty much assures that I will be kept away from any kind of disappointment when it comes to quality of figu.
Of course there can be some mistakes in terms of the paint job. Its a pretty common thing even for reputable companies actually.
But luckily, so far I do not have much problems in it, albeit me not checking my figurine before every purchase.
Till now, I am still satisfied with what I am getting for what I am paying.

If I were to choose my favourite figurine out my collection.
It would probably be my newly purcahsed Kureha. She is more of a beauty than the moe kind of figurine. And thats her main winning point.
I remembered that there was a pretty big commotion within the otaku community when danny choo posted some of her pics in his blog.
And me buying this figurine when I dont even watch shining wind proves that how Sugoi this figurine is.
My second favourite would probably be haruhi, with shinku and kotobukiya's shana following closely behind.
My least favourite would be llya i think, but i cant really complain as i bought her only for $38 bucks (30% off). It was probably an impluse purchase too.
If anyone wants it, I dont mind selling it for $35. So email me if you want it.

And finally, if anybody were to ask me whats the point of me buying figurine or even degrade me as a thriftless asshole.
This is what i have to say. "I have nothing much else to spend my cash on except for buying figurines."
For food, I dont see the point on spending big bucks for it. I dont fancy for really delicious food. Anything that taste decent is good enough for me. I eat in order to survive. Not exactly to enjoy the process of throwing food into your mouth and gnawing them with your jaw muscles.
For clothes, my brother buy new clothes on a monthly basis. So whenever i need them. I just dig the shit out of my brother cabinet. So having new clothings will never be a problem for me. But this point had also resulted me in being very used to wearing baggy shirts. Still, nothing really bad about that.
For education, poly education is pretty cheap in SG. So there wont be any problems for that. And if I am qualified to go UNI. I probably wont study in the local UNI too. Chances are, I would go china and live with my multi millionaire uncle/aunties. And I am sure they wont have any problem in paying for my UNI education fees. At the same time, i wont be embarrassed by an ounce for leeching from them. As I am pretty sure I will repay them for whatever they pay for me. So its all planned. And there is nothing much to save considering that both my parents earn 2.5k a month. In the worst case situation when I really cant afford for UNI and my overseas relatives refuse to pay for my uni fees. I would just drop the option of doing so.
For entertainment, anime,porn and figurine buying IS my main entertainment. Other then that, its probably just some arcading that cost me $10 a week, or occasionally some pirated RPG PS2 disc. Movies once in a while is important too.
Other then that, nothing much. Unless i get a GF, then its a different story.

my friend has like over more than 100 figu in his house and some unopened.... and his mum is always screaming when she finds out some figu cost like RM 300.
